Though my personal version of the Magician is more of a fun-loving, playful individual on the outside , this is how I'd depict him if I were to paint one ultimate portrait of him. So this can look a bit out of character.
I have a vague ideal of what is a good personality. Maybe you can see my efforts of trying to put it into his facial expression, lol. Or not.. I've changed it god knows how many times, anyway. I found myself taking this extremely seriously. I thought I'd finish this last Sunday.. I ended up tinkering with it for an additional week.
Constructive critique encouraged. You can be as honest as you want, I'm looking to improve.
Corel Painter Ⅸ, around 60-70 hours(too much trial and error. I LONG to paint fast and well and soak up all that art has to offer. Art trades, requests, everyday doodles. Then I'll be in heaven.)

It's his temporary, amateurish remedy to a damage caused by a magic experiment. He felt compelled to go on because he was about to discover something intriguing. Anyway, thanks!
I tried SO hard to see him a cute, handsome, or any other adjective I normally use to describe him.....but I'm gonna be honest here...
he just looks downright CREEPY in this picture!! O____O
The picture really is lovely though. I can actually see this hanging up on someone's wall in a mansion or something....which would make it creepier...
Only about 70 hours?? Woulda taken me WEEKS to make something half as beautiful as this!!
Once again, yer are pwns.

Holy crap (that's advanced critique), every time you take a break you come back having made a quantum jump forward. This is stunning, I gasped when I first saw it. Incredibly creepy and beautiful. The lighting, the perspective, the character design, the expression and personality coming through - Eek. Just eek. This is one of the few times I can believe a magician truly is capable of magic. And how very ambiguous and dangerous a thing that is, what it can do to a being.
I have to agree about him looking creepy. I just noticed now because my eyes were too used to this picture by the time I submitted it, heheheh. I had been sure it wasn't creepy the whole time. Oh well.
Come to think of it, everything I paint tends to have a scary touch to it unless I deliberately watch out. This one originally had smaller irises, too. Glaring, cat-like eyes..
Guh! That...that EYE! His left one! It...it's so creepy! O_O Did he lose it or something!?
If you want constructive critique, here's some: the mouth. Too small. I don't think I remember ever seeing the side of the Wizard's mouth in Rayman, but if I had, I at least would have pictured it a big one.

I guess I felt like I had to compensate for the long break with some sort of improvement. The picture really is very creepy though I didn't intend it -- say, the damaged eye, was supposed to represent his passion in magic rather than add to the dark atmosphere. But I do happen to like the creepiness nonetheless. I find darkness and moderate bloodiness beautiful, kindof. Thank you so much, and god your words are beautiful! Brightened up my day.

Wonderful portrait charicature~ I personally find this magician to me much more intriguing than the original design.

It's drifted so far away from the original design though, haha.
